This is a tough one. Chainsaw oil is particularly difficult to remove, and it's not just because of the smell. It's also difficult because it can get into the saw's tiny spaces and you'll need something more than water to get it out. The best way to clean up a chainsaw is with a degreaser like Simple Green or TSP. If you don't have either on hand, try mixing dish soap with water in a spray bottle.

The chainsaw should be taken apart and the pieces soaked in a degreasing solution. The chain should be soaked with a degreasing solution before being put into a container of water. All parts that are metal should be scrubbed with a wire brush, and all plastic parts should be washed with soap and water.
