A chainsaw can be used to cut many different things from wood to metal to plastic, but before you get started, you need to have a little maintenance to do, which is mostly cleaning out the gas tank.

Types of cuts with a chainsaw: Felling cut: the direction of the cut is made perpendicular to the tree. Typically a felling cut has a small bevel to make a wedge, but this is not always the case.

1. Chip Cut - Material is cut into pieces or cut out of the log. As the name implies, the saw blade cuts only the chips. The saw doesnt remove any wood to get to the next place it has to cut. Its also called Push Cuts because the saw is pushed into the wood to make the cut.
